Meet Monica Shannon . . . the Power Lunch Bunch
Spotlight Member of the Month!
When Monica Shannon and her husband, Charlie, were looking to make a career change, they found an opportunity that was picture perfect. In November 2006 the couple purchased a FASTFRAME store located in the Village Center in Palm City.
“We’d been looking for a business opportunity, and one day happened to take something into the store to be framed,” recalls Monica. “When we asked the previous owner about franchise options, we learned that the Palm City location was for sale.”
FASTFRAME offers unique custom framing and specializes in archival framing using acid-free matboards, backing and mounting products. Archival framing properly preserves artwork to prevent damage due to fading, condensation, mildew and browning/discoloration. Monica and Charlie can help you to choose the very best treatment for your piece from an incredible selection of colorful matting options and high quality, hand-crafted mouldings.
“We take as much time as needed with our clients to come up with the best possible design for their artwork, memorabilia and photographs,” says Monica. “It always gives me great pleasure when a client is so in awe of their piece’s final ‘look’ that they can’t wait to get it up on the wall!”
FASTFRAME also has an in-store gallery, featuring limited edition and open edition prints for sale; special order artwork can be ordered upon request. Charlie, who is an avid landscape photographer, will soon showcase some of his work in the gallery.
Charlie makes the frames, mounts and stretches all the artwork, and cuts the matting on site. Monica works at the front of the store, assists customers, and handles inventory control and marketing. She’s found the Power Lunch Bunch to be a wonderful way to promote her store: “The power lunch is a great way to network and meet other area business woman, as well as find out what is going on in the community,” says Monica.
Charlie was formerly in the home construction business, and Monica is an R.N. In addition to partnering with Charlie in FASTFRAME, she continues to practice nursing as her schedule allows at the V.A. hospital, where she’s worked since 1995.
With two small children (Jacqueline, 10 and Matthew, 8), the couple enjoys the flexibility and proximity to home that their franchise offers. And it seems artistry runs in the family: Jacqueline is a talented artist, and is now learning pencil drawing.
